It is important to note that the two codes were stamped on the Vehicle Identification Plate (ID Plate) of Sandman vehicles produced in the Brisbane (Acacia Ridge) plant. Other manufacturing plants did not stamp XX7 or XU3 on the Sandman although their authenticity is no less genuine.

The difference between the two are unremarkable and determined on the type of tyre the vehicle was loaded with, all other aspects in terms of optional equipment were the same as each other.

This is a sample of an XX7 plate from an HJ. XX7 and also XU3 were stamped on Holden Sandman vehicles that were built at the Acacia Ridge assembly plant. Other plants for some reason did not stamp these codes on their Body Identification plate.

There has been a misconception over time that only an XX7 or XU3 stamped on the Body ID plate is a genuine Sandman.

However genuine Sandman vans and utes were built at other plants and identifying particular components and plate details will determine if it is a genuine Sandman.
