    HQ front clip....

A guy rings me up and asks for a complete standard HQ front clip, STD guards, 100% complete with all bumper bar brackets and all in excellent condition - usual story.

he wants "the best ones i have" .

i said i would ring him back with a price.

i thought about it and i though bugger it, $2000.
    guards x 2 $300 each
    bonnet, $250
    Nosecone $300
    Rad support $350
mint front bumper with all brackets $350
    grille $150 - no cracks
    Headlight surrounds $100 pair.
    good hinges $50 pair.

thats $2150 if you add it all up...

anyway, he laughed at me and told me i was dreaming.

i told him he can drive all over W.A. and piece it together himself.

made me really think thou....most people would laugh at $2K for a HQ front clip...
    - i would have laughed too, but, then i added it all up....

Adam, we paid similar amounts for all the panels you are talking about only we didn't buy bonnet hinges we painted and fixed up the originals....most of the Yellow van we are restoring is now not the original as it either rusty, or dented and out of shape and had bog all over it under the new yellow paint. he won't find rust free straight guards etc. for any less, so tell him he is dreamin...... although to be truthful we did pick up one guard from a garage sale of all things for $50....

He might find what he wants eventually for a cheaper price, but he will be waiting for a long time to drive his resto....

And Adam what about the cost of the inner guards at $25 each?
HZ Jasmine Yellow Windowless Sandman, now being driven everywhere and is finished!

HX Mandarin Red Sandman Ute finished, and club registered

It is true that to find rust free straight panels is hard. Depends how much of a rush you are in.
Its the labour that is expensive. To find a rust free car takes time which equals money and then it has to be pulled apart and stored. That is what the customer dosnt think about. At least the customers walk out the door. Try dealing with sheep

ive been getting similar figures for hq parts for years..except i am $350 to 450 on bonnet nose cone and rad support..
for many years i have paid big dollars for quality cars to dismantle and because of that you cannot sell the parts for anything but top dollar for top parts..as for walk off fronts i cannot remember the last time i sold one..always in peices..:Pirate:
