    Look For in Adelaide

    Hi Guys,
Im looking for a few bigger items to help finish off my build.

Front and rear Bumpers, rubberless type. Looking for the wagon rear bar not bumperetts. looking for bumpers that would be suitable to re chrome. as straight as possible.

Premier/twin headlight radiator support HJ-HZ in good nick, no rust holes.

I'm Willing to drive to pick up any items.
    Cheers

Pleeeease don't fit a wagon rear bar! They look awful, plus you can't drop the tailgate anymore.

If you must find one, HJ to HZ Belmont (and possibly lower spec Kingsood) wagon rear bars are not all that common anymore. You might have to fit a HQ one, and these do look better than the HJ to HZ examples.

Give Greg (ozbox) a call, he'll freight the stuff to you quite cheaply.

Mook we with HK1837 go with Bumperettes, but it you really want one we have one off the yellow van it is a cut down stato one and the only reason they put one on it was the beaver was badly dented and it hid this quite well...they look like they are about to fall off unless installed correctly.....let me know it isn't too bad will take a pic if you wish...

    Interesting,
I thought that you had to fit the wagon one so that you could drop the tailgate..

Ill put up a pic of the one i already have in the next few days so.

What are the differences i thought that they were all the same from HQ-HZ with the exception of the rubber strip..

The holes have been welded for the bumperetts already so that there is no going back now.. lol :errf:

I don't know if ill ever drop the tailgate all the way anyway, i was always planning to use it as a seat & as extra leg room.

    Cheers for your opinions guys

Is this the one HK http://cars.ebay.com.au/HQ-Holden-Re...ayphotohosting that you are talking about?.

Some of the bumpers have a groove where the rubber strip would go. Others are just flat, I'm guessing these flat ones are the HQ ones that Byron is talking about?

I'd been told that you could use longer hinges so the gate would clear the full length bumper but I'd worry about putting a dent in the gate or the bumper with dropping the metal onto metal.

Unless you want to load the van with a forklift I don't really see the need to be able to drop it all the way down. Plus, if you put a tow-bar on it you won't be able to drop it down anyway.

You're also right on with it makeing an excellent seat, even if you do have to point out to the missus that sitting on the tailgate eating an icecream is in no way 'a picnic' nor 'cute'.

How bad is your radiator support? (got a photo) surely a few hammers and a mig welder at the panel beaters would solve all your problems?

Edit, the bar above is for a hq sedan mook. The wagons had the lights the same as the van. But you can see how if you took the lights out it'd be flat.

AG, correct, the HQ wagon rears are nice and smooth, the J-Z ones have an indent for a rubber strip....

Mook, i have a sweet as rear bar at my folks, i'd need to confirm if its a non rubber one though. apparently the bars are about 3/4 inch too wide to fit nicely on a van, i mean its nothing much (like 1cm each side) but if you want uniform gaps then getting someone to chop a little out of the centre will make it line up pro.

unfortunatly i cant help you with the front, I've just used my old one as exchange for a new one.

    Hey guys,
I like the look of this bumper, but also the ones with the indent would be fine im guessing its the one HK and Jennie are getting all bothered by, lol. As long as there is no holes for the rubber strip.

So this one would be to wide?

If the rear bar is cut and then shortened all of the brackets would need modifying so that the mounts still lined up with the holes.

Why did i sell my bumperettes?

Let me know how you go Ski man, cheers

    I disagree Byron.
I'm still able to drop my tailgate and i have the wagon bar.
The reason i can do this is because, i have the bump stops on the end of the bolts, that hold it to the hinges.
