    Brisbane WB restoration

    Hi Forum goers!

I'm a newbie here and just thought I'd seek some advice for my project.

My first car that I've owned since 1994 is an 84 WB Holden Van. I've looked after it well over the years, but now it is time to show it the love that it deserves. It has the usual floor pan and base of front windscreen rust, and thinning paint. It is my daily drive.

My concept is to get the rust removed and repaint in the original Alpine White. I was also toying with adding the blackouts and blue decal stripes on the side (similar to the HZ Sandman). As I believe the SANDMAN is an icon and should be kept pure, I wouldn't be adding the SANDMAN decal on the rear lower tailgate.

I'm in the central Brisbane area and unfortunately am unable to do the work myself. Can anyone recommend the services of anyone in Brisbane to assist with rust work and a good paintjob. I'm not after a showroom finish, but would like it done properly.

Also, how much would an average paint job cost?

Thanks in advance for any replies

    Hi There Cheesy!
Im also restoring a WB, I think that i had very little rust in my van.
It all depends on where you go and what you are after.
you could go the old bash and bog which start around $3000.
I Went for a bare metal resto, paint and panel is around $13,000.
my car will be neat but not a show car. I know that the rust has been fixed properly and very little bog has been used in the process.. Just talk to whoever is going to do the work and let them know your expectations & standards.
Don't forget to set yourself a budget as sometimes restos sort of snowball....
    It's all :geegee: for courses.

The small amount of rust was in the gutter and quarter panels. I knew it was there btw (the i think was more of a statement)

hi Cheesy. Good luck on your project, pity you cant do it yourself, What a kick it is to drive a newly built machine out of the shed after a full restoration knowing that only your own grubby hands touched your new pride and joy. I have ideas if you want to chat. Cheers.. AJG

    Welcome cheesy
We are restoring 2 HZ vans, The red one is in a blog and the yellow is in a thread called back to the soda blaster in the lounge area....I am updating as we progress...takes a long time, and a lot of money has been thrown at them...but we will have great classics when finished....This forum which we joined in march has given us loads of valuable info, and we have made a lot of friends through it as well....rodney can do a lot of the work, but no rust cutting, panel beating, or painting...can't wait to drive out of the shed....

    Cheers Jennie
