WB Panelvan - Sandman like styling

    Hi Forum goers!

I'm a newbie here and just thought I'd seek some advice for my project.

My first car that I've owned since 1994 is an 84 WB Holden Van. I've looked after it well over the years, but now it is time to show it the love that it deserves. It has the usual floor pan and base of front windscreen rust, and thinning paint. It is my daily drive.

My concept is to get the rust removed and repaint in the original Alpine White. I was also toying with adding the blackouts and blue decal stripes on the side (similar to the HZ Sandman). As I believe the SANDMAN is an icon and should be kept pure, I wouldn't be adding the SANDMAN decal on the rear lower tailgate.

I'm in the central Brisbane area and unfortunately am unable to do the work myself. Can anyone recommend the services of anyone in Brisbane to assist with rust work and a good paintjob. I'm not after a showroom finish, but would like it done properly.

Also, how much would an average paint job cost?

Thanks in advance for any replies

Talk to Ben at Seven82motors. They work on vans all the time.

how long is a piece of string cheese... paint could be anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000. all depends on the amount of rust and dents and how far you wanna go with it.

while your at it drop the WB front end in place of a an HJ-HZ if your dead keen on stripes. just my opinion

im sure it will look great!

I agree with Vombil, if you really want the Authentic Sandman look, go for the earler front clip. Otherwise just go nuts and make a custom van from your own ideas! Look forward to the result, good luck with your build.

Thanks everyone for the words of advice and support!

I've found a guy near Redcliffe in Brisbane who is able to take on my van in Sept!

I'm going to get the blackouts painted in too. I think they look fantastic.

I realised I never got around to posting pics of how my WB van's makeover went. She came up beautifully for my budget and as always a pleasure to drive. Recently popped some GTS wheels on her and she looks amazing.

Thanks to jasonstickthis for the decals and to all forum members who provided answers, images and just general sandman chit chat! As always there is something to tinker with, so will keep you updated on anything that pop's up.
