    Van tailgate rubber

I'm wondering what is the correct fixing of the tailgate rubber ends. You know at the top, the thick square bit. The one I'm replacing had the end square bit stuck on, the new one I just bought has a brass attaching ring built into it for a grub screw fixing. Which one is standard? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi mate, the 2 tailgate I have the rubber square bit at the very top corner is glued on, but the rubber extends inwards in the top channel were there is a grub screw in the channel. (Sorry, not sure if factory or replacement rubber )

Thanks, that helps. I installed the rubber on the weekend. I don't have a hole for a grub screw and it seems to hold on without it. I think I'll cut the brass loop of and glue it. Works for me cos I'm not good with drilling holes in the body.

Yes lower tailgate. I saw a stock HZ van on the weekend with the grub screw and another without it. Both seem to work. There was some talk about cutting the corner of the rubber to clear the top lip on the panel van lower tail gate due to it being different to the ute. I'll look into that. I think the rubber will then sit flush and I'll reconsider putting in the grub screw.

Yes that's it. I don't know why I don't have a hole there. It may have been filled at some stage. Thanks for your help.
