    Thumbs up HJ Sandman Panelvan

    G'day all,

I have a couple of questions on a HJ Sandman van please for those experts. I've had my HJ panelvan for almost 20 years now and recently got a VPR from HHS, that came back as a XX7 Sandman out of the Elizabeth factory. The van has been modified a lot since then and has a HZ dual light front with a premier grill, No GTS guards and no GTS Dash inside when I bought it. Did all Sandman's built around 06/05/75 have the GTS Guards and GTS Dash as a definite standard or custom options? I would like to restore the van a little bit back to its Sandman form but only want to change it if I'm a 100% of what it originally was.

Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

    Cheers

All Sandmans had sports (GTS) instruments & steering wheel as part of the sandman package.
All HJ Sandmans had fluted guards also.
The HHS report you have would only reference the tag details. Have you checked to make sure the chassis number matches the tag? In case it had a body swap at some stage, would be best to check before you spend too much money on it

Gday Maxsandman, thanks for the reply. Yes I checked the chassis number and it matches the tags and report.

Sounds like it was raped for a 1 tonner in the late '80, '90's as a lot of Vans were.
As Max has pointed out it should have all the GTS goodies. The reality of the HJ Sandman is that is was a base Holden van with GTS options and a sticker kit.

The fact that it is one (a Sandman) and the price they now command it should be well worth while to be returned to it's factory state.
