Did HZ have hazard switch on the steering column , I'am thinking not but my son has a 10- 78 HZ 1 toner with hazard switch on the column and what appears to be a WB brake master cylinder. The car has matching numbers on body & chassis and doesn't appear to have been in a bad crash. I just find it strange that someone would change out a steering column.

78 would not have had factory hazard lights/switch. I think Hazards came in around late 79, or 80. Probably the column is out of a WB.
Check where the windscreen washer squirters are, you may have a WB cab. Also, if it's a got a WB m/c it would be a WB booster, which is different from HZ

The October 1980 Holden HZ Parts Manual (last parts manual for HZ) has no listing for the Hazard switch.

Yes Max just checked and it has WB washer jets, so I would say your right it's a WB cab.

I don't know if they work, it has no battery or motor, I stole the 253 out of it to use in my panel van.

It could be an HZ chassis with a WB cab fitted. If all the plates were transferred, then all of the numbers would still match !
There are many small differences between WB & HZ, much of it to do with wiring.
Does the plug at the base of the column match the blinker switch wiring ?
Where the ignition coil wiring is at the firewall, is the coil wire a skinny yellow one or a thick pink one ?

Hi Dr Terry Yes the blinker plug matches the base plug and it's a small one not a wide one like on the early models so I am sure now it's a WB cab, but that's OK it;s just interesting what you find when you look at the small detail. I tried to post a picture but it wouldn't upload.
