hj sandman 6 to 8 engine swap

Hi people great site you have here
I have a survivor hj 202 all matching numbers sandman that I'm the second owner of
I've had it for a long time now and would like to swap out the 202 for a 308 maybe even 350
my question is would that hurt the value of the car or would it add more value?

It would be more valuable as a 6 cylinder not many left around anymore
Can still install a V8 just keep the original engine aside

Keep the 6 cylinder and put in v8 but keep everything you change of so it can go back in
As for the 350 you will need to to much work and engineer reports

No engineers report needed unless you start modifying the body or brakes. HJ's are still a carry over from the HQ 350. You just need to show the engine is not earlier than the ADR rules for that on the vin plate and get a blue slip. Have a look at the regs in your local state road authority first. It gives details on engine size and weights and mods that can be carried out without an engineers report. Easy mod fitting a 350 in a HJ, buy the correct engine mounts and basically only minor redirection of a couple of thing and your done.
