It is all good useful information and only goes to prove that many out there are wrong in their positioning.

Very difficult to expect any tailgate to be accurate unless you know it’s original. Not too many would still have the original skin on them now.
It’s taken me almost a year since originally posting this thread however I managed to find a HQ Belmont ute with (what I believe is) the original tailgate.
Given I’ve had so much trouble, I thought I’d post the answer so that it may help someone else in the future. Long story short, as per the attached photos, the Belmont badge is 38mm from the edge of the tailgate and 38mm up from the tailgate swage line. Given 38mm is a nice even 1 1/2 inches, it ‘makes sense’ as a measurement location that would have been used in the factory.
According to my HQ Parts Catalogue, the tailgate badge (both Belmont & Kingswood) is the same part number as the the badges used on the front quarters so are easy enough to source.
