    old mate wants $35k

    "I know what i got and don't need the money" is the attitude.
    i think he got screwed or he got it cheap and is trying to cash in.

    Offered 20k being its lost alot of history in the chassis, i would have paid 35k with the chassis.
    I think maybe i was generous what you think?

    Ex show van that had a jag rear end (thus modified chassis). Lot of the show gear sold off and swapped the chassis (maybe?) It happened!
    Frenched ariels, full rear bumper, roof rack, fast glass etc. All of the period mods of the halcyon days.

    What is all the 100mph tape on the firewall hiding?
    I wouldn't like to pay 35K for it. But it does look like a reasonable thing as a starting point.

    Mine has a NR motor its not going to impress a buyer that wants all matching numbers sandman ...
    Looks like a good body van for a start point or maybe drive it like its is...there is always going to be that old but as a sandman.

    pj, is that "NR" as in nasco? If so, that's the next best thing to the original engine, & a lot better than a similar dated block with different eng number. I think only the most fastidious buyer would worry about that.

    Looznu- it sounds like a lot of coin, but I'm am constantly suprised by what some people pay or what I have to pay for parts or bits and pieces I need these days. On the plus side it looks fairly complete, so depending on the condition of parts whether you can reuse or reco instead of buying parts will save a bit. But on the negative a wrong chassis and it is a "little brother" engine (253) neither of which will attract top $$ on resale. And it will still be a full resto and expensive to boot despite the potential parts savings (unless you're doing this all yourself). If you are buying for you to keep these things maybe won't concern you

    Yes max ...im thinking real early on in it's life the motor failed for one reason or the other and this one's from the holden dealer.

    Imho 35K is to much for what work is involved to get that van in any sort of good cond it all cost money
    if you haven't got 50K to play around with dont bother
    you will just be in a world of hurt

    I do my own work, won’t cost a bomb to build but still real money over time, if it was matching chassis I’d consider it at 35k, in present condition I offered 20k which was not a welcome offer, but I doubt many would offer anymore then that.

    I don't know if that is what happen I was only pointing out as a "maybe" this could have been a possibility.
    Lots of ex-show vans were sold off in pieces. I purchased one on a different chassis and put it back on the road in the mid 90's.
