Thread: HQ Sandman Fender badge location

    HQ Sandman Fender badge location

I guess you only see one side at a time.
These are original factory guards on the van, badge holes have never been altered.
I wonder when in production the Belmont badge holes were done for the HQ Sandmans.
Given that most of the fluted guards would have been for Monaro production.

Doesn't look right to me. The passenger side looks to be close but the drivers side is to far forward when compared to other examples.
The set back of the "T" should be the same as the "B" on the other side I would think.

Go looking for HQ Belmont sedans to compare.

I wonder if its possible that some dealers fitted the badges on special models?

It's not just you Gene, I'm not a fan either. But if you want it original then they should be there.
Unless it's a Kingswood Sandman Ute.

I agree, they put GTS guards on and then put Belmont badges on them?

I've always thought it was odd too. But I like it for that reason. It's showing the Sandman roots. It's a bit like the yanks optioning a Hemi big block but it still comes with bench seat and column shift. It's quirky. I'd keep the badges in their original holes too, like you say don't see them at the same time

    I've checked the Belmont out...
The driver side is bout 1/2 inch closer to front ..
Passenger side bout inch and half..
It doesn't look right but from factory that's what must have been done.
    Having trouble loading pictures.
