    Finding a Sandman

How many of you guys have been lucky to find a van that the seller didnt know was a Sandman. Does it happen much? Like for every 4 sp v8's you check or v8's for that matter, is there a 1 in 10 chance one might be a Sandman or are the odds higher.

I've found a few. Some went to good homes, some I wrecked for the tags for my collection. All have been vans so far though, no utes (or I would have kept it!).

I found a hx ute on ebay listed as a factory v8 4 speed. Its stripped of all its goodies but I have nearly bought every thing to put it back together. It is a WM with 18v trim etc.
You just have to keep an eye out.

I found one at a holden wreckers! He didnt think it was a sandman because it didnt have XX7 on the plate. I almost corrected him but then thought better of it. I got it for $700 and another $300 to leave the power steering on.

The only reason i noticed it was cos of the Radial tuned suspension badge on the tailgate. All matching numbers car.

I wasn't even sure that mine was one till about 6 years after I bought it. Guy I bought it off used it to tow his mowing business trailer.

Its just a matter of time and a bit of luck? Keep an eye out and let all your associates/mates know as well. I found mine by complete accident?

As well as my story about the gray one. I also found this one at a relatives house in tassy. Its a genuine sandy, but the guys a knucklehead. He 'sold' it to some local guy he knows but was scared of and the guy took it without paying.... It did need a shitload of work though. Ah well.....
