    HJ rear join line

Have a Sydney built hj and the join line above the rear tail lights is filled smooth. Yet some brisbane built vans in the family you can see the join.

Is this a Sydney thing or has someone smoothed it over in the past life of my van?

Both my Sydney built utes have lots of overlaps between spot welded panels smoothed over. Both Adelaide built WB’s have them unsmoothed (if there is such a word). I think it’s a plant difference. The ones near the tail lights are where I first noticed it. I bet the B pillar join at the bottom of the door jamb is smoothed on the Sydney van too.

Image borrowed from the web. If you look closely you can see the vertical join just above the taillight leading to the join were the van body joins the ute base.

It’s weld too, not lead. I will get some photos when I get home.

Personally I prefer if they are not smoothed over
.a easier to tell if any previous work has been done.
The seal panels that go underneath the doors either side , the replaicment has no joins and is complete doesn't appeal to me.
I prefer to see the joins. My van body hz was made Adelaide assembled Melbourne .. ute hz made Adelaide.

:Edited because everything in this sentence was wrong.
Adelaide build and does have the join line there.

Never even realised there was a panel join there. Figured it was all part of the quarter panel. Are wagons and utes the same?

Yeah I agree, but these seams a smoothed in the factory, not by some dodgy bog specialists. They seem to do it in Sydney but not other plants.
