    Sandman verification

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and would like some help in verifying a HZ Sandman van. I've read various posts which advise to look at hoodlining jagged brace, front consul bracket in front of the gear stick, door courtesy lights and wiring, and spare wheel winch holder. Apart from the vin code, paint code and the above is there anything else to look for. I understand this topic has been thrashed but really need as much info as possible Thanks.

Thanks Valencia. I should have put the model from the vehicle which is HZ8W M 70. My understanding is that the M signifies it as a Belmont. Would this be correct.

It depends what series you have. Without tag information it’s impossible to to know.

    HZ.

Look for the black door handles too. If it doesnt have them then dont take that as a sure sign that it isnt a Sandman, but if it does have them then it can be a good sign, as its often overlooked when building replica’s.

Of course, the best verification would be to just get the HHS certificate. $100 is a cheap way to be sure.

Paint code is not an identifier. Console/seat seperater was available on any van. The head liner was also available as a comfort pack option. None of these are proof on their own but can be an indication and are more reliable as a way of eliminating a van, not proving one is a Sandman.
18V trim in a M model is a good indication of Sandman as it was not normally available in an M.
    GVM is a good indication.
Stainless trim around windscreen should be painted black. Door handles should be plain die cast, and painted black.
Should have factory fitted twin headlight front with cut outs in spoiler and I think they had a fuse holder in the wiring loom that can used as proof of originality.
Last of all, as stated, if you can get a HHS certificate that’s the best.
The above is only for HZ. Console mounts are more important in HJ.

Depends on how much it's been tampered with over the year's how original.... most have been butchered... another thing they had the front nose cone had spoiler cut outs ...the m is a positive ...need to put up all information on compliance plates check the chassis matches the plates

Unfortunately it doesn't have a front spoiler and not sure if there are cut outs in the front apron. Will need to investigate when I inspect the vehicle. Although being a bolt on panel, that could have been replaced at some stage.

HZ Sandman will also have a different wire harness. Due to the twin headlight front. Only other way it could have got it would have been if it was BO6 optioned. This could also explain the bucket seats etc (if its not a sandy)

also if its derated GVM and a later model HZ it will be 2000kg. Which indicates its Sandman. Earlier XX7 Sandman vans were 1950kg like the utes. But the XU4 option also shares the 1950kg.
