    I've got a broken one so grabbed a couple of pics for you. I've taken the end off before but wouldn't recommend my method.

    Hope these help;

    What if I use cloth wrapped pliers to squeeze two sides together? Do you think the tags will disengage?

    So my method was to always turn the wiper switch to number 2 speed position and then grab it and keep twisting it forward, kind of trying to get a third wiper speed position. When the end pops past the position stop, you can then pull it off. I don't know how this disengages the 2 x tags that hold i on, but its always worked for me. This is not a recommendation, just how i got mine off in the past and you may break something in the process.

    Also agree with pj350 if you can find a new one for that kind of cost?

    Cheers

    Thanks everyone for your help. Getting the cap of the end is easy with a feeler gauge and gentle pressure. Releasing the 2 x tabs to get the end of is a mongrel. I did it on the bench using a 14mm socket as a dolly but can't do that on my column. I'll leave it in the too hard basket.
