Nice van. Those side windows look good, I'd leave them!

Well done. Great purchase and ggod value, I saw this one on carsales and was too late...
I wondered why your HJ had gone up for sale and now I see why.

    Cheers, Jez

I must admit they are different they arent full length and they are one piece as opposed to the two small ones? yeah not sure wont rush in I'll see if they grow on me. Yeah Jez I was lucky enough to get in first, after the disappointment of missing out on the red van at Dubbo I was relentless in checking ebay, carsales trading post etc every night and I reckon I came across this one within minutes of it being posted. After intially telling me he would let me have first offer and then told me he had a guy coming to look (young guy) and fortunately he didnt buy it. Thats when Ian offered to go around and look on my behalf, He did actual tell Ian he would take $3500 but when I offered it to him that evening he declined saying he had another guy coming the following morning to look at it so for the sake of $500 I gave him the full asking price. I still think the price was fair and if I spent around $20,000 will hopefully have a great looking van.

Great colour combo. It's a factory L31 from memory? Was it advertised as auto in the carsales ad?? Jez

Whoops, should have read the first post in the tread - L32 m20. I seem to recall it being advertised as an auto in the carsales ad.

Yeah I think your right it was advertised as a auto, factory 253 but I think I will go for a red 308 motor, personal choice but maybe not for the purists.:Chin:

Tha got me excited (and then disappointed when it was sold). I pictured it being a factory 308 TH400 in Valencia Orange. That would have been unreal.

That would be a cool Sandman, especially in a ute but van would be awesome too. I saw a Valencia Sandman Overlander once, it was a van, complete with stripes. It would have been a factory L31 M41.

Have just been around to a few vehicle restoration shops this week and have a few things that I'd like to put to the wealth of knowledge that visits this site. My van has 3/4 single side windows which I believe were an after market inclusion (see page 3 of this blog). I want to replace them for 2 reasons one i prefer windowless and the second is that both windows have warped panels above the glass as a result I presume of being installed in the first place. I have been given different ideas in regards to best way to attack it. I know where I can get my hands on donor windowless panels but as with a lot of things different people have different ideas. Has been suggested to cut just above the top gutter and unpick that join and down to the bottom seam and all the way along to about half way along the top of the door. Another was cut just below the gutter on the flat panel to bottom seam. And thirdly to make the cut and join on and around where the panel is pressed in. My situation is different to HZSandman's cut outs with the twin side windows and due to the warped panel above the glass is going to be a bigger job. Would be grateful of any input and knowledge of similar jobs by members on here.
