    Fuel pump.

Looking at changing our mechanical fuel pump( still original)
    Any recommendations?
    Still want to go mechanical.
Or am I wasting my money and should leave it.
It has done 224000 Kay’s and over 40 years old.
I remember someone saying there was one brand we should avoid.

    Cheers Kiwivan

    My thoughts too.
But don’t want to be stuck somewhere.
Do they start playing up or just stop?
    But yes May leave it.

I agree if it's working fine let sleeping dogs sleep ...otherwise you could be causing other problems that you don't want.

Holden still lists a part number for VL V8 fuel pumps. I run them on all my 308's.
They are a much neater looking pump than the Repco or Bursons replacement.
    Part number is 95710666.

I had my fuel pump break down a few months ago on the Tonner. It just stopped suddenly, but i was lucky as i've got dual fuel, so was able to stay on gas until i got it replaced. I went to Repco and got a new one, which seems to be working ok. Cheers

Cant hurt to have a box of spares in your van...things that are easy fixes if youre stuck on the side of the road. Fan belts, fuel pump, globes. It would be more carefree cruising ....and if its working....leave it be
