Don't know if this helps at all, but I have a power-steering box on my HJ ute, with what I believe to be larger-than-standard tyres, and it is effortless at low speeds, single finger! Haven't had the opportunity to try it going faster than 10km/h though, especially now as it's in bits!
    Best of luck!

Thinking seriously about a rack and pinion conversion on my Sandman. It will get around trying to fit the power steering pump with the fuel injected 5 litre conversion too.
I ended up fitting the short arms to my WB. Really hasn’t made much difference to the on road feel. I haven’t driven it in town enough to really test out the turning circle either.

Got another present for the Tonner today, a CRS (Blacks Racks) Rack and Pinion P/S kit.

Pretty much pre-assembled in the box, so should be all fitted by tomorrow.

Is this the same unit you fitted to your Van?

Hey Innuendo. Yeah sure is, i was pretty happy with the van fit, so took a dive on the daily driver Tonner, but this one is brand new, whereas the van one was secondhand. Drove it for the first time tonight and pretty happy with the directness of the steer. No more side to side slop in the wheel.

    Pic of it installed...

Those kits use a Camira P/St rack. Very well made unit & gave very little trouble.
