    Dashboard lights

So i've been bothered by the back light illumination of my gauges in the WB and thought i'd have a tinker at improving it. I find its very hard to easily read the gauges at night, so I ended up removing the green diffusers from in front of the lamps on the centre cluster. Its a lot brighter and i'm very happy with the new brightness, but it looks fairly different as you can see. Feedback? Remove other diffusers?

I have used coloured LED bulbs (green in my case) and removed the green diffusers. I like it better when all backlights are the same colour.
They should be either T5 or T10 style fittings.

I’ve used dimmable blue LED with mine but I originally left the diffusers in situ. At first chance I removed the diffusers and are much happier with the result as I wanted something subtly different. Currently my clock bulb has gone (was still incandescent).

If you have some spare diffusers, try drilling some holes in them and you will get extra light and keep the blue hue. Colour is used for instruments because it makes them easier to read. Red is apparently the best subtle light (as per VE model).

Thanks All. Some good suggestions in here. Might tinker with LED and see how it goes. Cheers

So it was a cracking day in Melbourne today. Decided to tinker in garage and got some progress on the panel van project. Also remembered this subject when i was at Autobarn this arvo, so had a wander down the LED lamp aisle. Picked up a pair of T10 white LED lamps and gave them a go. Bloody brilliant result, so have decided to convert the entire dash to 6000k White and remove all diffusers.

2 x T10 SMD LEDs inserted into tacho (on full brightness)

Some dimmer applied so its not too bright

    Thanks Robbo.

So i had the day off today and also received the last T5 lamps through the mail, so i gutted the dash and changed everything out. End result is with all green diffusers removed and LED T5 and T10 lamps fitted behind all instruments. Colour temperature is between 6000K (T5's) and 6500k (T10's). Pics below...
