hey guys dont know if this helps or not - the photos i posted of the hj van under the tree out in west qld will show that this van has a silver face gts dash. it is a 3/75 build and i think it had a 60V code for the interior. this may be of no help at all just FYI. My hx ute also has a silver face dash?

thats helpful with the dash info.
    HX should be silver.
early HJ is also silver, later HJ (when???) changed to black.

I'm still pretty sure the HJ (both series) had silver dash fascia. To really know we should find an option code rather than a picture or someones word on it.

My HJ has got a black fascia, its a 2/76. But I wouldn't be able to tell you if it had been replaced in it's lifetime. Do they have a date on the inside? (I'm getting a flash back) I assume that would be a production date of the fascia only though...

I'm hitting the shed this weekend and will take pics of the couple fascias I have, both the fascia and crash pad have dates written on the backs.

Did the factory a/c have the big unit in the engine bay like later model's or were they different?

Make sure you get the whole set up out of a kingswood or early statesman. I got mine out of a wb statesman to put in my wb ute and everything was the same except the cable that goes from the controller to the flap on the heater box(this directs the air over the heater core for warm air). The cable operated the reverse way to the ute and I had to connect it to the vent control on the dash which isnt real good. Also the lower dash facia is different in that it had the air vent cable slots deleted. Not many people would notice though.
