    Cutting rust out properly

I can’t put up pictures, but if someone could grab some from the Pro Street restorations Facebook page of the Sandman they are doing, that would be awesome.
It shows just how much rust is hidden, that is probably still lurking in most restorations still. You can’t grt to it until it’s literally had every panel cut off.
Greg Ball looks like he is a wizard at panel beating, judging by the lengths he goes to. This van has the quarters, roof, plenum and side infills removed. Literally just the skeleton left.
The van was sold by Ozbox and it was on here years ago. It’s only just being restored.

That's why I used to love Fisholene back in the 80's, used to drown my cars in it. Just had to put up with the fishy smell for a few weeks....

Judging by that photo, it’s impossible to get to every spot for rust prevention.

I'd always be concerned about rust reforming on the inside of the welds holding on the new repair sections. Definitely prevention is better than cure

Just had a look at the page and pics, that's a cracking effort to restore a body. Also a great set of reference pics for how the panel van body is put together.

I agree. You can see how the whole van is based on the one tonner cab. They just kept tacking more bits on till they got a Ute, then tacked more on to get the van.
I hope they put photos up of it being put back together.

That's what drill bits and plastic grommets are for

Yeah, I think those are wise words Sandaro. Hopefully the restorers will get the job right. New welds and potential for rust, the vehicles were zinc dipped at factory I thought. Hard to replicate.

I agree that it's a great reference pic! What a huge restoration.

What I really like about that pic is that it shows the shapes behind the access panels to the lower sills inside the van area. It is possible to get a camera and torch on a mirror in there (and a soapy sponge - ah yeh yuuuck) but do-able, (wear gloves if car has been sitting- redbacks etc), but so cool to actually see how that mudguard sits.
