Thread: HQ sandman Grille

    HQ sandman Grille

Correct grille for HQ Sandman please

As you can see Rarespares and Holden parts book say black.
Most of the photos I have seen have been silver/black, including my original van, but of course time fades the memory.

    Any help most appreciated
    Cheers,

100% black grille. Same as HQ SS. GTS had the black/silver ...all others had silver

Im not sure if it was black moulded plastic like a hz sandman or whether its was painted black

Geez..the price has jumped from when i bought mine a while ago....30% increase

HQ Black grills were painted black. The were all silver/grey plastic out of the mould. All models had the stainless trim around the edge.
Sandman had the normal HQ grill badge (though it got swapped out for the GTS a lot in the day).

My book is Oct 1973 so doesn't cover Sandman. Sandman should be the same as SS.

Does anyone have the paint code for the black used on the grilles? Was it the same paint used on the blackouts?

    Yep, definitely painted black.

You can see the paint has been worn off over the past 43 years on my ute, but was painted black.
    Don't know the paint code.
