hj8wm70 = HJ Holden base model Panel Van
    191358-a = Adelaide Build
    1890-19v = Black
    568-15953 = Mandarin Red
    l32 m20 gu4 = 253 V8, Aussie 4 Speed, 3.36:1 Ratio Salisbury Diff.

Nothing there says it can't be a Sandman.

    4/76

    gvm 1950 kgs

    seating 2

    Also points to Sandman.

You would want the chassis number to match the tag 100%.
Getting a HHS report would be beneficial to confirm what the tags suggest it was built as.
Note: not all Sandman's can be confirmed 100% with a report from HHS as some records simply don't exist.
For sure it's a bonus if they do.

Even then though you'd want to check for evidence on the body to confirm it is original.
Look for pointers like full roof lining, console mounts, paint black-outs etc.

The more you tick off the list and document the better you'll be in the end.

Yup, you are correct. My bad.
Shouldn't always do things off the top of my head.

In the HJ series 18V was the black (slate black) for base models while 19V is generally the black for the premium models - GTS and Sandman etc.
The grain texture is quite different and the colour was a little different too.

In those days with the right relationship with the dealer you could order most of the options presented in your plate numbers. The most difficult would be ordering passenger tyres on a commercial vehicle. A dealer would have just told you to get a Sandman as the cost would have been cheaper than all the added changes.

The vehicle is listed in my spreadsheet as a Sandman, but I don't recall who gave me that info. It could have been Byron, Leroy, Jason or a couple others.

As Inny said, HHS will look up a microfische database and tell you if the sales order said 'Sandman' and which dealer it was ordered from.
