Needless to say, on pull down, the previous owners did a hack job all over the place. Really feel sorry for the old girl......all sorts of nasties in the cavities...as you could imagine!!!
First up is windows...nope....dont want them
Butt weld clamps.....brilliant little things

Little cleaning up and onto the other side. As you can see the multiple colours....someone sprayed over chrome yellow with blue...then sprayed yellow on it again
Cant think of a logical reason why someone would cut a square hole in the firewall like that .....or hack a hole where the accelerator cable feeds through......idiots
This one?

It is your main wiring harness penetration. Though my understanding was it was a HJ thing. Is yours late HQ? I also thought HQ used a linkage rather than a cable for the accellerator though if a very late HQ it would possibly have a HJ firewall which explains the wiring harness hole, the vents in the body above and behind the occupants heads etc...
I'll have a rabbit around through my stuff I may have a wiring harness to suit that hole.

Nunc est bibendum...
Correct...HQs had the accelerator linkage...so im npot sure why the hole was ripped open
No this square hole mate......the other square hole is for the wiring harness as you mentioned. Defies explanation
'bout time Alien.
Nice to see the progress on the HQ Sandy.
Windows gone
Those clamps a good thing, little like Clecos. Very handy.
The bloody square hole must have been for adjusting the timing while driving!
Someone nicked your guards?
I'd recon the square hole was to get to the dizzy bolt & clamp by someone who didn't know any better. Im sure I have heard that there were some old pommy trucks that this was a recommended modification.
Looks like a great project, what is the original specs?
Looks like a lot of work but worth in the end good to see some progress mate
maybe even get me motivated i said maybe
Great job on the windows. That extra hole is a cracker.
Actually, wasn't there a number stamped on the HQ's firewall there?
Cheers inners.....yeah youre not wrong....procrastinated for long enough
Yeah its a mystery that hole....oh well....soon be gone
Max....was a Chrome Yellow, Brisbane, 253 4 speed...will be 454 T700.... essentially it'll look stock except for the driveline. If i want it back to standard....its a simple enough process.
