    Def a red donk, WB.
    Engine code - 29 C 4
Engine number - QR 504824 - is it out of the first Sandman ever made? Is it, is it??? Haha
Clock points to 6 ( would love an explanation of what this means - have heard many stories).

Not sure how my post got moved in front of yours Rockape but your right. It's a red motor. As for value? Whatever a running 253 is worth. But if someone needs a 253 date coded in 74 they will be happy.
Should be some good parts to sell on that UC. Genuine A9X floorpan.....

I deleted the first pics as they were all upside down.

Yeah stoked to have a '74 253. Might hang onto it in case I ever find a decent 'Q shell. But I need any extra $ I can scrounge up for my Sandman motor - don't ask haha what a nightmare!!!!!

Floor pans are toast - whole car is rooted, sadly. Am told the bolt off front is a good thing? All Greek to me. Once motor and box is out I'll try and flog the shell for whatever I can get for it.

    Cheers Vombil. Appreciated.
From all reports it was a really good engine but will need some love after ten odd years under a mango tree in this climate. I have been told by a few dudes in the know that 74 blocks are much sought after. I hear lots of things though haha. Everyone tells you something different. Is a grand too dear? Too cheap?

    Cheers again man

Not sure why a 74 block is more desirable than any other year? Maybe they are? Haven't heard that before.

You don't get much for $1000 these days I had a mate pay $300 for a pair of rocker covers recently

If you have a '74 L32 Sandman and missing the engine it would be perfect if within casting date tolerance.
Something's worth whatever the next silly bugger will pay for it.

    Yeah cool, thanks guys.

I'm no tight wad, infact I give more stuff away than I sell, just trying to get an idea of what this thing is worth as like I said, everyone tells me something different.

I'll advertise it for $700 and see what happens. My limited experience has taught me that HQ gear seems to be worth signifigantly more than other stuff as it seems to be much harder to source. I could be wrong but that's how it seems to me.

Anyhow whole thing cost me nothing and I got the 5 speed I wanted so no big deal. It can sit in the shed if it doesn't sell - not too fussed.

    Cheers guys.
