Check the hose and vacuum modulator as well.
Thanks... I've checked and I reckon the vacuum is intact, certainly at the inlet manifold. I guess I need to check where it enters the box.
I drove it to the golf course (only about 5km each way) this afternoon and it behaved pretty well. I'll give it a longer run tomorrow and see what happens.
I don't think it can be a dud trans when it goes so hard in 1st and second but autos aren't my area of expertise so any advice is cool.

Gave it a cut and polish afterwards....

Looks good for a parts runner. Little bit of love makes a big difference.
Looks pretty cool now Rob.

Thanks guys.... It sure has scrubbed up well.
I cleaned out the plenum yesterday.... I've never seen so many leaves and crap in a plenum before and not a spot of rust!
It does however let a tiny bit of water in the left side... it's coming from up high but because of all the aircon stuff behind the glovebox I can't see where. Drain is clear so I guess it might be the air flap not sealing properly.

I had one leak with a crack in the drain pipe
Ahhhhh.... it could be that!
I think I'll bite the bullet and pull all the aircon stuff out from behind the glovebox... I can just reach up and feel the drain pipe and it does feel like its a bit crushed so could have a crack...
Pain in the neck, but it has to be fixed.
