    Sinbox down..

ya gotta love everything mechanical..im paranoid about lower ball joints coz ive had a couple go on me over 35 years of driving so when building sinbox i had checked that the ball joints were good...
well yesterday at 5.05 pm in toronto peak hour the ball joint nut gremlin attacked..the nut stripped clean off the ball joint and the sinbox was down..

damage to the gaurd was from the wheel dumping and turning me straight left into the side of a new audi with a girl on red p plates driving..she mustnt have been real smart coz she kept going...damage to the spoiler was caused by the tow truck draging me backwards onto the truck...which i had to argue with the guy as he wanted to pull it up frontwards.which would have taken out both sides of the spoiler and the apron.....he listened after i told him to **** off and ill get another truck to do it...
the pic below is after spending 15 minutes this morning putting a nut on the ball joint to make it mobile and a cable tie on the spoiler so i dont run over it..suspension wise it damaged the lower control arm and the steering arm..
the ironic part is that i have 2 lower and 2 upper recoed arms waiting to go in early next month when i change the diff and rear springs...

Could have been worse. In 1984 I bought a Madeira red 308 M21 HZ Kingswood sedan. I had it for a year or so and a mate bought it and spent some $ on it. In NQ doing 100+ km/h the left front balljoint let go and he speared off into the only tree in sight. The car was a mess, luckily he was OK. I have since found out there was less than 800 x 308, 4spd HZ Kingswoods made, so a rare car wrecked unfortunately.
Lesson, don't use cheap crap imported ball joints!

thats not good at all :( glad damage was minimal and no one was hurt. and the van survived. sad story about the one hitting a tree too tho. very lucky the driver survived, but sad loss of what sounded like a very nice and rare kingswood

Nice easy fix there. Just a pain to have to repair it.
