Great photos Camper, as always. There’s so many nice places to visit, I’ll have to get out there more.

Yes, it’s so much better than having to stay home.

Hey Camper, I remember when you got that Ute and put the black paint protection on it. Just wondering after 100k how it’s holding up.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert.

    Simply beautiful as usual.
Glad that the old girl is treating you so well.
How many kilometres are you averaging a week or a month?
Also what’s your fuel usage been like?

    Cheers Kiwi
It is not about the journey,It is the style we travel in!

    Hi Dave,

sorry for the delay, the speedliner is holding up well considering the bashing it gets, definitely some marks on the front. Worse fairing has been the factory shiny black coating that we didnt cover.

    Couple of comparos below

First, mid-way through an average autum trip, so many bugs

    And cleanish today

Here we can see the joins between the Speedliner and the PPF, holding up very well with zero maintenance

And 200ks after a pretty good wash

All up I am happy with the spend and ease of maintenance. Plus I still think it looks great!

    Thanks again Kiwi,

Still loving the car, I work 2 weeks on, 1 off. So just for work travel is around 1,800Ks every 3 weeks. Plus trips I am averaging around 35,000Ks a year, pretty much what I worked out before purchase. Going by the plan, it will have paid for itself 2022.

I average 9L per 100Ks, depending on the right foot. Flat highways, cool weather and cruise control give the best and I can get down to 7L per 100. The recent fuel price drop saw a change of 76c a litre! I saved $70 in one trip! I use Premium and do feel I get more out of it.

Before I drove back and forth it was a bus from home to the airport at 3am, 2hrs to Brisbane, fly to Rockhampton 1.5hrs, and another bus to Blackwater 2.5hrs plus waiting in between took about the same time it takes to drive, did that for 4ish years, copped a lift for 3ish years, drove a 2001 Lancer for 2 years (including from Blackwater to Adelaide and back in a month. 5,000Ks with Mum in a coupe...)

Have tried almost every possible travel option, 3 different destination airports (1 now closed) caught 2 different trains, an overnight rattler and the Tilt train, Greyhound bus's all the way up the coast with the back packers.

Suffice to say I know just about every way to get there and back.

I am still finding new things to see along the way, have dreamed of sooo many cheapish, remote properties to buy and feel I know the Burnett River/Highway and Queensland in general in a way not possible for many others.

It feels like one day I will work out how to make some cash off it, do away with work and travel full time, then the lockdown happened and I am happy to be a salary slave today.

Having the control and freedom has changed the travel from a chore to a perk.

    More fuel bragging,

I like to keep the instant fuel use on the centre gauge and have seen it as high as 28L and have managed 3.6Ks at 0L (long downhill run back of Carins). Idling uses around 0.5L per hour for those power naps when you need the aircon on for 20min
