Hot tip- the cafe on the corner in Monto does one of the best club sandwiches I’ve ever had, and the coffee was top notch too.
I live about a thousand Ks from work and generally travel either the Bruce or the Burnett highway. Often stop in Monto for fuel before going up the range, have never been to the cafe there though. We did spend the night at the pub once while waiting for parts for the ford station wagon we had at the time.

Cania Gorge is a top spot to visit near Monto if you're heading to Biloeila. If you're heading for the coast go via Mungungo and Kalpowar, a little bit of well graded dirt road regularly used by farmers.

Hey my old Kenworth had a Boyne River Road House sticker on the window. I guess that is/Or was in the Boyne Valley?

Here's a favorite break spot on the Burnett highway between Mundubbera and Eidsvold

There is no Roadhouse in the valley but the Boyne river goes on South from there and empties out near Gladstone, there is even a Boyne island.

Just had a thought, there is an old truckie haunt servo where the Boyne river crosses the Bruce highway at Bernaraby.

One of the first places I went was the Blackwater weir, impressive during the flooding we had at the time. My experiences here have lead me to seek out weirs when planning trips, often you can free camp near the water.

Some Gifs, can't post them directly here but it is a safe link

Also came across a weird plant that someone might recognise, would love to find out what it is.

I enjoyed watching the fisherman catching barra on lures, even the birds were doing well, didn't manage a photo of any of the fish.

As water levels dropped and streams turned into pools that turned into puddles the bigger fish were stranded, my friend tells me of catching big fish by hand and transferring them further up stream and over the weir wall. Local fisherman looking after their prey, kinda cool.

Criky mate stunning photos as usual.
    Beautiful country you have there.
It’s a crying shame people don’t realise we are living in paradise.
We just have to get out and see with our own eyes.

    Cheers Kiwivan

    Thanks Kiwi,

I think you're right, its just about getting out there and enjoying the place. I think our vans epitomise the freedom to roam and explore, while still having a nice spot to sleep...
