I've been watching the blokes cutting open the oil filters on you tube, looks like Fram is the worst, I used them before, anyone here ever cut one open? Some are bypass and some are full flow. I'm not sure what to use now.

These days I use K&N. Previously I used Pennzoil and Magnafilter.
I use Ryco, cheap I know but I only do very low Klm and replace it in 12 months, plus the motor is a tired one. Opinions on the Ryco ?
I use Ryco too. I bought Repco ones once. Three of them blew the seal as soon as I started the engine.
I have used ryco for over 20 yrs had two vehicles do 500000 klm + both motors were still going strong so they must be ok
Maybe it was icecream.
On a serious note I have a neighbor that fills his used oil filters with some kind of degreaser and has an old washing machine wired to the spin cycle, and does a few to balance the load, he claims their as good as new when spun out, it takes all the old stuff out. Crazy.

Ryco have been the major supplier of filters to the Australian market since the early 50's. They don't manufacture in Australia anymore but have an huge test facility in Sunshine Victoria. They supply under the Wesfil brand and other parts group packaging as well. They supply to some of the car companies under the companies own packaging. You get what you pay for and regular servicing with the change of the oil and filter is highly recommended. There are numerous other brands in the market and ALL are imported. The packaging should show what country they come from. Nissan for example only have a couple come from Japan while the balance comes from countries like Poland, Spain and South Africa. Some filters bought as Aftermarket may be better that those fitted to the original imported vehicle while others are not. In the end it comes down to a matter of choice and pricing, similar to good wine. Some people even like the packaging.
I note in Sand Rig's post that the brands listed are overseas and not all are available here.
Ryco mostly but genuine filters if my cars are under warranty
Factory is wise under warranty.
