So it sounds like Ryco hands down. Anyone ever cut one open for a look?

Sand rig asks has anyone cut open one for a look. This is good if you then know what you are looking at. Filter paper media is based on the micron filter ability and it is impossible to tell just by looking at it. Then it requires the knowledge of how much paper to give an amount of area covered. The oil used also plays a part along with the actual assembly of the filter. If the filter leaks or loses pressure around the joining seam then that can render it useless. There are so many factors involved in producing a good filter than often it is brand preference that results in the purchase.

I Lao use the magnets on my oil filters, the type that's a band, it has a row of powerful magnets in it. I figure it can't hurt. Filter Mag I think is the brand.

Haven't seen them but magnetic sump plugs are common on dirt bikes and they always have a bit of metal on them.

My latest Vehicle came with a magnet on the drain plug, on break in there was metal. Filter mag now makes a plastic case a d they don't hold up very well, the older metal case was better.
