You may want one that can be checked on your phone. My home can be viewed anywhere in the world. At least you can ring someone or the police if you can't get there yourself. The infrared cameras make the night look like day on the screen.

"Swann" brand seems popular if you want home security.
You will find package deals on kogan.com and other retailers.
I.P Cameras and Records to Harddrive etc.

Security cameras are only good if you are there, but pair it with an alarm system that will page you when its activated. But by the time the cops get there it will be all gone anyway.

Ive yet to look into it, but i know guys are hardwiring and old smartphone and setting up a GPS app and synching it to the current phone....this tells you where your car is anywhere in oz. The trick is to hide it where the would be theives cant find it.

Also, how about putting removable bollards the main exit of your garage. Theres a few guys out there that come and install them so theres no way they can get your ride out of your garage...not enough room.

Cameras are probably best used as evidence if criminal activity occurs.

...Better yet, get loyal 4 legged family member....no, not a mother in law .......my labrador might be all cuddles, but youve got bugger all chance of getting through if im not home.

I always thought a set rabbit trap under a towel on the drivers seat would be a satisfying treat for a car thief. Actually just start stringing them up from light polls around town would work well too.
