230kw of top model nothing to sneeze at, but styling is pretty boring, says A-B car to me.

I just sold my VH and bought a VE R8 clubsport with Walkinshaw enhancements. It takes me a looong time to move to slightly newer cars... But I certainly wont ever be getting one of those fugly new commondores.
I'll reserve judgement. The thing that gets me is all these Euro designed cars all look the same.
The taillights look like the current Falcon. Even the VF tailights look like the Mazda.
It's all very stylised and boring. Like they can't come with something themselves.
They have to put badge branding the size of dinner plates to differentiate.
Some of the modern designs are so ugly, yet the stupid public still buys them!
I can't see us racing out to buy one that's for sure.
coming up with something new would be like the chryslers - neat one day and ugly as shit the next
BQZ
The simple fact that there isnt a V8 option is the biggest turn off. Wagon looks nice....but thats about it.
Grats on the Clubby Hainzy
So now it looks like Le French "PEUGEOT" is buying the European GM factories according to the latest industry newsletters. Holden are scrambling to resolve this problem as they recognise selling a PUG COMMODORE will be even harder to sell into our market. Apparently both Vauxhall and Opel are making losses and GM Detroit wants to cut them loose. This also poses problems for the Astra. It may that the long term future of parts supply is a concern.
Convincing Aussie punters that the new Opel-sourced German Commodore might be worth a try is one thing, selling them a new Commodore churned out by the same folk who make Peugeots and Citroens is quite another

Sounds like a typical big company disaster. Fairly sure you could say that they will kill the Commodore off and I would say that they will cut Holden free too. What possible reason would they have to keep them going? I just watched a huge Belgium mining company shut the mine I was in down. They start offloading the sections of their companies that have the worst fit first. Australia is an inconvenience due to the fact they have to convert our cars to RHD. It must really chop into the profit for, realistically, a minuscule market.
We struggle to get many of the models of dirt bikes here and they have no conversion to do to them!
I reckon we will be reduced to Korean brands before too long or worse, grey imports.
GM still have a lot of financial commitment with their current stock and range, dealerships and especially the future model technical development centre. They are delaying re-signing some dealership agreements, just ask your local dealer owner. Some dealers have already relinquished their agency as experienced in Adelaide. The staffing at Head office has seen nearly all the long timers gone and now mainly graduates on short term contracts. CEVA are building a new warehouse and distribution centre at Derrimut, which will probably cause closure of the older GMH parts warehouse at Dandenong. It is certainly a changing time.
Looks ok but old habits die hard
