    HJ Ute, Sandman?

    Hi All,

I just bought this HJ Ute, it is an original factory 253, 4 speed in Absinth Yellow.

Vin is 8M80RFJxxxxxxJ x being the body number

    Paint 568-15949

    Seating Capacity 2

    Engine L32

    Trans M20

    Build Date 9/75

    GVM 2200

Has arm rests on doors and GTS dash.

The guy I bought it off said he bought it off a deceased estate and had it repainted as the paint was old and interior re trimmed.

He doesn't think it was a Sandman but told it was ordered with GTS dash, floor shift and V8. If not it's close as except for front GTS guards.

Being a HJ, it needs to have xx7 on the compliance plate otherwise it is not a sandman.

GVM should also be 1850 on genuine sandman utes.

So HJ sandman's were all built in Acacia ridge were they? Be careful when offering advice, A sale may hinge on your input. Look at the link below. Holden historical services will be able to tell you, for a fee. About $100 and 100% accurate.

My mistake.... I mistakenly was referring to HX not HJ as mentioned. The gvm however is correct.

Alisco, Sandmans were built at every factory and were not stamped unless they were Brisbane built.

Alisco all the information is on the My sandman homepage. Might be worth a read. XX7 and GU3 were the codes for different GVM,s
