    Tyres for 6 inch GTS rims

    Hi All
    Just had my GTS rims painted and am thinking about putting tyres with raised white lettering on. Rims are 14 inch and 6 inch wide. I know choices are limited. Basically, BF Goodrich. Would it be ok to go 215/60/14 all around or 215 front and either 225. 235 or 245 rear. The tyre shop said 245 is too wide for rims. Could I do Mastercraft Avengers or Roadstone Darkhorse all around as I know they only do 235/60/14. Suggestions please, what do you think?

    I'm not an expert, but would think 215s would be maximum, could maybe do 225s but sides would probably bag out a bit

    215 front would be correct but rear 225 wont hurt either

    6" = 152.4mm
    I would suggest anything over 215mm = 8.4" would be illegal in just about all states and territories.
    Factory they would have had 185mm tyres or near enough.

    205 would be right and you would be stretching with anything over 215.
    If you wanted bigger tyre sizes you should have gone to a bigger/wider rim.

    2009 Van Nats with GTS wheels.jpg

    My van at Geelong in 2009. It's the only pic that i know of that was taken at the show.
    It went from Newcastle to Geelong return with 235/60R14 on the rear. There were 5 of us in it with the back loaded to the roof.
    Never had any drama's. (I don't corner hard either)

    Are they Mastercraft on the rear? I read another post where I think you suggested Mastercraft Avengers.

    On my Sandman I have 235/60 14's on GTS wheels on the front and 245/60 14's on the rear on widened GTS wheels. When I bought it it had the same front and rear but I needed something to fill the rear guards out a bit and had the 8" wheels, so I threw a pair of BFG T/A's on.

    The 235's on the front are fine and don't feel heavy on the steering, in fact they are lighter than the 225's on 7" wheels on the front of my other van.

    235 sounds wide for a 6" rim but the bead width isn't that much wider than 6", they just have a bit of a bag on them.
    Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
