As you can see by my latest Avatar, my baby has had a hand polish as have the wheels. The hand polish has identified some minor flaws in the paint work which will be rectified once the van is registered. The hand polish of the Chevoit Armolites has seen them come up not to bad. Mind you the worst wheel took five hours of rubbing with the reminder taking four hours each.

I had full intentions of fitting GTS rims however I am now reconsidering that as I quite like the look of the wheels currently on it. This may very well change once the Sandman stripes are applied. Any thoughts folks..........?

Yes, those wheels could be useful...... if you had 4 garden hoses!

Looks grouse yeah those wheels not only look wrong they dont let the brakes cool down
and you need to take the lift kit out

The front wheel appears to be a Globeline and the rear a Armourlite. They had different push in fake rivets vs bolts and chrome vs black.
While they had their place in the 80's as a knock off of the American Centerline I'd have to say I'm with the others on this. As for brake cooling, don't think there is much to that theory it's a bit like don't paint your motor black or add chrome pieces or it'll run hot! Looks like you polished the outer lip and not the centres so much? At first look I thought you had chrome outers. Anyway I'd sell them on and put the cash into some different wheels.

Yes it needs lowering about a foot, she's a bit of an overlander. The right stance can set one car apart from another and improve the look a thousand percent.

Bugger no one likes my wheels, oh well there goes 21 hours of rubbing 5 wheels back.
Have I mentioned that rubbing back wheels is a really really really shitty job, especially in Far North QLD where the temperature and the humidity does not add to the pleasure of the task? The wheels actually came up really well, the photo is a little deceiving as the centers are just as shiny as the outers.

As for the stance I agree completely, under the cover on the other side of the Sandman is my 71 HQ Statesman that has been lowered a couple of inches with King Springs and looking at the two of them together the Sandman does look a little odd, perhaps having 14's on the front and 15's on the back makes it look worse.

Just a few more things to add to my list of things to do......

They don't do it for me personally. Wheels like stance can make a or break a car.
But it's really up to you. You'll never please everyone. I do appreciate the sweat equity in polishing the old buggers!

You can't go wrong fitting genuine Rally wheels (well you can by chroming part of them). I'd be sticking to '70's wheels and nothing from the 80's or later.

Stick with the globelines and give those spoked fugly wheels to one of your mates with a 4 WD

Well 7 spoke mags must be bloody unusual.
A set of Hotwires in 8" would go well with the colour. Even road Rebel would look ok. The black in either wheels goes with orange. I don't reckon polished or chrome works as well on its own.
You will sell those others especially after you spent hours polishing them.
