EFI V8 - fuel tank & pump requirements

I don't really want to chop a tank up so was wanting to run an external pump and hook return line to breather in top of tank (wb series)

anyone that has done a simple system without cutting and welding things?

It's been done that lots ,just make sure you remove the plastic
    fuel seperater first .
You can use the line from the charcoal canister for the return
If running an LS motor the fuel system is dead headed and doesn't need a return line..

cheers. do you mean the tiny plastic bung thing at the top of the breather in the tank or is it something in the pick up/sender unit that needs to be removed? VN V8IMG_8933.JPG

so I'm going to replace tank and just was wanting to know of this existing setup is ok and if I can use the breather at the top of a later model tank for the return rather than welding a bung

i have no idea what that dirty looking old thing is after the pump. could it be a pressure reg? looks to have a tap adjustment on the top

Yep use the breather as your return line.
That's a regulator after that pump in your photo. The VN engine should have it's own reg at the return fuel line on the engine.
Best to run a surge tank, higher pressure fuel pump for the EFI and lower pressure fuel pump for the surge tank.
    That's what i did anyway.

Here's a link to a Efi pump ,it has a couple of hi volume carby diagrams first
Then the third is a typical Efi setup. And you don't have to go to the expense of a surge tank as its only a street car not a group A

thanks mate. mine is pretty close to the diagrams pictured except fewer filters. just had the injectors cleaned (they were literally full of rust dirt and water - some blocked shut) runs like a dream!
