    engine number

    I checked out the engine number on my car today I know it's not the original. but I can't find the engine prefix listed anywhere. Anyone tell me more bout this engine?

    to me the number looks like 11 UJ 481033
    the date code is 15B4

    Engine prefix leters are QT
    Mad Max 1 Van, HJ XX7 Van

    Looks like 11QT to me......

    304/308 (5.0 litre):

    11QT - HQ-late HZ Statesman

    15th feb 1974..and yes 11QT is the prefix..

    The 308 coming out of my HZ is 11WT with a code of 9KO
    The 308 going into my HZ will be 11QT with a code of 22C7

    11wt is wb statesman deville and its a 9th october 1980
    11qt is statesman hq to late hz and date is 22nd march 1977

    At least the 77 motor will suit the van better then the 80 motor.

    I know this is a old thread but just a side note to it.
    If you look at the line above the engine number it looks like the block has been decked but they stopped the milling machine just above the engine number so as not to remove the number.
    This has partially removed the top of the numbers which has made it slightly harder to read but means a re stamp and renumber was not needed.
    If you do have a genuine block for a genuine car and are going to get it rebuilt I would suggest to the machine shop to do this as it will save a lot of trouble in the future as to it being a genuine original block.
    The machinist will curse you but well worth doing.

    my hq gts 350 coupe has had its motor rebuilt and that is exactly what the machinist have done...engine number is still readable...mind you iver seen lots that are missing altogether because of machinists..
