Grabbed some random shots at the shed today and thought some of you might be interested or not on some pics.
HJ Diff
Gearbox part number
Is this normal? It looks hacked so I'd like to know why please.
I'm guessing the tow bar has been hacked to change the rear shackle bushes.
i think diff housing and gearbox date castings will be the next big thing for "matching numbers"
Paul HQ SS has done alot of good work on this and has a database of aussie 4 sp,
he would appreciate serial numbers off them if you can supply...
lets face it, most sandmans are L32 M20 so it will come in handy.....

"All correspondence must bear these numbers"
so your diff is out of a 78 model and judging by the fact tha it has rubber bushes in it would indicate that its from an hz car, wagon etc..not ute/van/tonner.
towbar has been hacked coz the were to lazy to drop it to get to shackle bolt.
99 numbered side plate would indicate that its a later type box of cogs..hz wb vb to vk etc..
what is the number on the block..last pic?

if the motor is the only match then its got later inlet on it than hj....
looks like casting date ends in a zero?

what mm/yy is your HJ?
whats the worst that can happen? OMG, you may have to put a chev into it hehe.

Blocker
Cast date on the engine looks like D300 which is a HG block.
Valley and carb look like blue/black items. Gearbox side plate and linkages could be Commodore as well?
