Started fitting the subs today but just had to pull out the old speaker panel first. Also decided to mount my other pair of 5.5" two way speakers in the back as they ended up sitting nicely in their own pockets formed by the original body sheet metal work. Seems to be coming along well.

What a pain in the arse that job was!!! Must have had bad mojo over the weekend as everything i touched turned to shit, but its done. Glad i had time off over the Melbourne cup weekend or else i might have been riding the Hayabusa to work today. Anyway, got it done and another pic to share below. How does it sound? Well it sounds better than just running a pair of 5.5" two ways in the doors, but it ain't award winning sound. Kind of a mild bass sensation with better all round volume in the cabin. Might need to check out the sub enclosure and see how much improvement can be had. BTW, this 'behind the seats' speaker layout would also fit panel vans and style side utes HQ - WB if its of any use to others.

I was suspicious of my gas setup running rich and took the 1 tonner in for analysis. Shop said all looked good and showed me the readout. How does this look for idle? Any gas experts out there?

When was the gas last serviced
Hey Valencia. It was checked in April this year for road-worthiness when i purchased it, but not sure if that covers a service. I know the tank was removed and re certified, but i don't think the 'under the bonnet' bits got much done on them. Thoughts?Originally Posted by Valencia

Thats why taxis do 500000 km plus and just keep going service is the key to anything related automotive
Well, it got hot last week for 1 day in Melbourne and i thought its about time to reinstate the A/C. Got all my bits out today and put the serviced compressor on, with all the original mounting hardware which i had powder coated. What a pain in the arse that was. No wonder people pull everything out and don't have A/C on old cars, I reckon the factory air setup needs extra suspension on the passenger side just to hold its weight. Ah well, i guess it will be worth it when its -4 degC in the cabin....and the 308 is left generating around 25HP.

Taxis do huge km's because they never get cold. They run constantly at operating temperature in basically an easy environment. 793 trucks in the mine I worked at had 80000 hours plus on some of them. They had regular servicing but they often broke down. They were in an extreme environment working bloody hard.
Well its been a productive day today on the Tonner. I dropped into Dandenong Radiators and got the A/C commissioned and it actually works! Can't believe i was driving home tonight with cold air coming out of the vents...but all didn't work out perfectly. The 'reconditioned' compressor i got didn't work out and it pissed nitrogen when put under pressure. Not an issue as the Dandy Rad team took off and got me a brand new compressor in 20 minutes and we did a quick swap out and the system came up perfect after that. Threw the AC Delco out and we won't talk about it again.Couple of pics below showing the original and new compressor.

Glad all turned out well in the end, can't beat air conditioning.
