What other hobbies do you have?

One of my other hobbies is hunting for gold when out camping or travelling around. So far I have found a total of 26 grams both panning and gold detecting. Last weekend I went to Ophir which was the site of the first payable gold discovery in Australia.

I do a bit of prospecting and detecting up here when I can. Nothing like getting out bush by yourself or with a mate for a few days. Just waiting for the end of the wet season to get out there. I use a supped up SD2200D which is old but does the job.

I used to spend all my time playing a racquet sport in my younger years. State and national level. Now I have terrible problems with joints ie. feet, knees, hips & shoulder. But that's life. I think you guys getting out into the bush with prospecting have got the right idea. Would be a great way to de-stress. I've often thought about how good it might be to do that. Might just get a bit more serious about it soon. Is it just me or do most other blokes crave for the quiet country life as they get older ?

Worked in a gold mine for three years if that counts. Was trying to fit a fusion coupled to a pipe out of the sump in the gold room. Trying to clean the crap out of the pipe only to realise it was completely full of gold... Did the right thing and called security to take it away.
Can the detecter pick gold from pyrites?
I have just taken a redundancy and am leaving the mining game. Might have time to do some riding/racing on my Husaberg.

That's the beauty of the bush, I take my detector and pans. My guns and my fishing rod. Throw the TT600 and quad on the back, what more do you need. Days of different activities, and plenty of serenity. I even take the missus sometimes, Although she says its a holiday for her when im away!!
