According to the plates it is looks to be a Sandman - did you check the chassis number matches the plates?

Nice van. The compliance plates belong to a Sandman it just depends if the belong to that van

Yep thanks guys - heading to have a look at it today. I'm thinking as long as the chassis is a match then it's all good and will buy it. Apparently the paint is mint but my plan would be to paint it black again at some stage, interior is all also excellent and still 18v. It is now running t400 instead of m21 but could be changed back I guess if I really wanted to. Engine is original (rebuilt). Will let you know what I find!

gday there- tags can match the chassis but the body could still be from any other vehicle. you really need to rip up console/carpets, have a look for hood liner teeth and courtsey lights etc etc. It's becoming more common to see rebodies as the value of these increase. many people would remove tags when painting without a second thought... might come back to bite them now as once off, it's very hard to prove the body belongs to the tags/chassis unless it's pagewood which has a firewall stamp ( i think)

my opinion is that it's too much at $35,000 for a car that is not very original and not a colour you are happy with.

Engine can't be original to the car if it is running a T400 gearbox..... engine would have to be chev pattern to bolt a T400 to it. M20/M21/trimatic auto are Aussie pattern engines.

Also agree with WB, nothing wrong with a HX.... especially a factory 308 4sp....

cool combo. Black with 18v on HX. As good as you could want in my opinion.
Rust is the only thing to consider if the basics check out. Good luck.

OK so have had a look at this van for myself.
    Chassis matches tags
has console mounts - and auto centre console
    full length roof lining
    has door jam switches
is a two owner van, current owner has had for 3/4 of its life.
Have photos and some receipts of major resto work completed 02/3. This is when colour was changed from black to bronze.
Still registered as black with correct chassis number on rego papers.
Has holes everywhere at the bottom of panels etc for rust treatment. Body is in very very good order. The photos on gumtree of this van are terrible - you should see it in the flesh!

I don't dislike the van being bronze at all - it looks quite alright but seeing as the tags say black if I was to paint it thats the colour I would go for. Still not sure about those wheels though...

If you don't like the wheels I'll take them! ROH Wildfire were one of my favorites back in the day... I had them on my HK in '77/78.

But don't let a set of wheels decide if you buy a van or not.... you can change them in 20 mins and for not much money.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
