    A short wish list

    hi all...

i know that these pop up on ebay from time to time but before I start ringing around wreckers to see if i can find these i thought i'd chuck a post up and see what happens. nothing urgent but just the final few bits i need to gather to finish off the van

the very short list of things im seeking:
    - LX or UC Torana Hatch front seats or frames
    - sandman fuel filler cap (not the generic lockable chrome one)
    - rear sway bar for HZ RTS van

please let me know if you are able to assist in my search.

    Cheers,
    Ski

Is the rear sway bar the same as a sedan, they eye ball pretty close but ive never measured them. if they are i have a few sedan ones. or you could go a beefed up aftermarket one. My HJ has a KMAC kit fitted the sway bar is a bit thicker than the original hz ones. 4 leaf spring packs make them handle alot better to.

    sway bar

I believe the rear HZ sway bar is around the same thickness as the the car one but because the arms go towards the rear the crank to go around the diff is the opposite shape from rodney

According to the HZ parts catalogue there are four different rear stabilizer bars.

    6cyl Sedan and Wagon
    8cyl Sedan and Wagon
    6cyl Panelvan, Ute, Cab Chassis
    8cyl Panelvan, Ute, Cab Chassis

At a guess the 6 and 8cyl differences are probably due to differing shapes to fit Banjo and Salisbury diffs. Oz?????

All 1-tonners are Salisbury so Banjo V Salisbury won't be the difference. It'll probably just be a thicker bar. WB should be the same as HZ too.

From memory lockable chrome fuel filler caps are not standard. There is nothing special about standard Sandman ones, they should all be the same.

Yes the sandman fuel filler cap is not the same as the chrome lockable unit, it is a colour coded plastic cap and does not lock, it sits flush with the bodywork (well except the handle section). It is my understanding (could be wrong) that these caps were only fitted to sandman vehicles???

some links to some pics for those who dont know what we're on about:
    orange van
    yellow van
    white van

if the caps are generic does anyone have one lying about??

The petrol cap is generic and was fitted to vans, utes and wagons. It is a pressed metal cap with a cast handle screwed to it. I got a couple from Forbes wreckers when I was down there with Rodney..... I got an extra for a spare as I was always leaving them either on the roof or the bowser back in the 80's when filling up..... lost quite a few that way...

They look very similar to the wagon caps.

I wish I could say I still had one, but I of course when I had my wagon I left it on the roof one day...

I thought all the chrome ones were aftermarket. What does the parts manual say?
