Gavin and Debbie Herron's HJ Belmont van.

Donna and I took Gavin and Deb to Canberra yesterday to pick up their latest purchase, a stock standard one owner HJ Belmont van. 202/3-speed with bench seat and radio-delete. Chamois with Chamois interior. A few battle scars but zero rust that I could see.
The van had sat in a shed for about 20 years but ran pretty well. We stopped on the way back when the points closed up due to a dry distributor cam, but that was an easy fix and the rest of the trip home was uneventful.20160217_130213.jpg20160217_130231.jpg20160217_130239.jpg20160217_130251.jpg

OK nobody else is going to correct it - Commercial Belmont finished with HQ.
From that point on the base model was simply called a Holden. So this is a HJ Holden Panel Van not a HJ Holden Belmont Panel Van.
The tailgate badge is 100% HJ correct.

Does the badge attach only with double sided tape or does it have prongs?
Because that thing has got to go!.... Why Holden would stick a badge right in the middle of the tailgate is beyond me.
HQ badge positioning was so right, then they started sticking them all over the place!

    Thanks. That's a shame...
He brought it around to my place today after giving it a tune up and I got under it and had a good look. No rust at all anywhere and it just looks all so original. Diff needs tightening up, it has a small leak but nothing drastic. Gearbox is dry as a bone as is the underside of the engine.
Inside is like a time warp... everything is as it should be and just showing age and wear.
    Cool old stocker.
