    Dating Red Engine

I have a Holden 161 engine #161 H432240 and am trying to determine the date, or at least the year of manufacture. Can anyone help me with this?

    Thx

That engine number puts it roughly 1/3 the way thru HG production, so Oct/Nov 1970 is my guess.

The block itself will also have a casting date code on the side of the block near the oil filter.

Find that number & post it here, so we can decipher it for you.

I think that deciphers to 22 Dec 1970.

I was probably fitted to an HG which went down the assembly line in Jan/Feb 1971.

No, the 161H prefix indicates HK/T/G.

If it was an LC 161, the prefix would be 2600H.
