    Hx grille always black?

Mine has silver so should this be black? If so paint code and pic of which parts to black out would be great.
    Cheers

GTS & Sandman had black grilles, Kingswood had silver. Not sure grilles were painted, I thought they might have been black plastic from the mould. This is only from observation, I have nothing official to back this up, maybe someone else more qualified will answer. Hope this helps

    cheers

Max I think you are right our red van (now big robs van) had a poly black grille. It came out of a shed as was, so was completely original.

With HZ. Black grilles were always just from the mould. Not painted. For everything else that used the same HZ grille it was painted silver. I have some NOS ones of both styles.

I can only assume its the same in HX

I'd like to see an unpainted black HX grill.... All the HX GTS grills I've seen were painted black. The grill on my old HX Monaro was grey plastic painted black, it was a first build 7/76.

my hx gts monaro was grey painted black, but it clearly had a front end collision at some point because the guards weren't original either....

but my original sandman 7/76 sandman had the correct grill & badge...

I didn't ask if the plastic is black, I asked if the grill is unpainted. Holden generally painted black ABS plastic even if the finished colour was to be black. All the HX GTS grills I have seen were painted black even if the plastic was black. HZ are the only raw unpainted ones I've seen and not all were unpainted. If there are also raw unpainted black plastic HX GTS grills then it may be a factory difference.

get some thinners on a rag and rub it over the plastic on the grill, if the rag starts to go black it is painted.
