Maybe I don't agree with what path you've take HQ Freek, but it's your pride and joy, and as long as you're happy, that's the main thing. Best of luck

As much as I like my chrome yellow, salamanca is my preferred colour... But beggars can't be choosers with hq Sandmans

Centreline Cobras. 16 inch, still has enough sidewall not to look out of place.

Awesome. Nothing wrong with not being 100% pure. There's so many correct restorations around that a small part of me yawns at car shows these days.

After having a nice HQ ute stolen I swore that I would never build another car, but after spending a couple of years overseas I flew into Adelade for a mates wedding. Thought I would have a look in the paper for a HQ van. This was the first one I found and looked like a legitimate Sandman with all the GTS goodies and a sandman steering wheel. Only after I got it home and did some research did I realise how rare an XX7 van was. The van was pretty tired and blowing loads of smoke. The guy laughed at me when I said I was going to drive it back to Brisbane. Luckily it had a working aftermarket oil pressure gauge and whenever the oil pressure got a bit low I would stop and top it up. By the time I got to Brisbane the back was full of empty cheap 5L oil bottles. On that trip it used 35L of oil. Pulled the engine out and it had broken rings in 3 cylinders.
