Thread: WB stud pattern

You will find that WB had quite a lot of stuff different from the Hz
As the Vb commodore came out in 79 which ran the metric banjo bolts that you talk of and was shared with the WB.
Even thing such as wiring connectors were shared.
The WB statesman was even worse for a mixture of both.

Different seat runners with different hole locations in floor pan. Different end on front of chassis with different bolt hole location for bumper bar. Metric banjo bolts on power steering pump and different resovoir. Etc etc etc.

I always thought that WBs had a 1" master cylinder. HQ-HZ had 15/16. Think that's the theory behind the calipers bein different (maybe better)
We can restore cars back to original. But we can't restore originality.

My WB van is 1" master cylinder and appears to be the original. Alloy girlock brake calipers too.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

Strange that if they had better brakes that not everyone has recommended fitting WB brakes when rebuilding a earlier series. As far as I know the only difference would be metric sizing rather than imperial. Could be wrong though. That would explain the different master cylinder size. If it's different. Shame HK isn't on here anymore.

No,it's a myth. Just thread change. Same as HZ for callipers.

It's not "just a thread change". The location of the hose fitting is also totally different.

If you fit WB calipers to HQ to HZ in place of original disc calipers, the hose comes off the chassis behind the upper control arm mount, the same as drum brake cars (for those who have done a drum to disc conversion).

The other thing is, if you fit WB calipers with WB hoses, you then need to change the pipe nut at the chassis end as well as change the length of the pipe. Either that or get a custom hose made with metric at one end & imperial at the other.

Also, AFAIK the WB master cylinder has the same 1-inch bore as HQ-HZ even though it looks totally different in design.
