    Steering Coupling - Rare Spares

My spare steering couplings are all shot so need to replace.

I thought a local parts supplier even Sprints might stock these but no luck.
Rare Spares have them at $119 - anyone used RS ones? It seems the more work I do on the car the more money RS is making from me, if they were a publicly listed company I'd be buying shares instead of spares!

I was told to steer away from the rare spares one, the quality of the coupling can cause it to slip, I got an exchange one through Greg Thackray ,he rebuilds the original ones using new bolts and the proper steering rubbers he gets from the states, they are roughly about $100 exchange for a power steering one, he is based in sydney. 0408674444. He is a HQ 350 specialist .

If you were told to stay away that must indicate they are no good or did the person telling you that have a vested interest.

We have sold hundreds of these couplings without any problems also remember if your car club is registered with Rare Spares you will get a 10% discount and your club will receive points that go towards gifts for the club .

You can be cynical and look at it that way; but you will find that a lot of companies give discounts to groups of people such as the NRMA , RACV and others.
This discount does not just apply to couplings but the complete range

Yep NRMA gives me a discount. I just have to pay my membership every year.

It just annoys me that you give a discount to club members who spend absolutely no more money at your shop than if they were not members of a club. I am a club member so now I will replace that non road worthy steering coupler because it is now $2 cheaper?

How about we forget the discount for club members and we start making tailgates that are not bent like a banana?

I have a new one I have for sale. Pm me if your interested. I have it up for $50. We just need to verify the spline is the same. This one is for a F body. (GM)
The new ones have a safety on them so if it goes you don't loose steering.
I'm sending a shipment over soon, I could include this to save on shipping.

I've used Rare Spares couplings on My LC Torana, LH Torana and my mates HJ. All are still in perfect condition and have done a fair few miles with no issues. I have also rebuilt a few in the past with no issues either, so I guess it's your choice.

Don't know if a Pontiac one would fit....
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

Thanks Les for your input and others for alternative suggestions. I am not in a car club :(

Let's keep it civil too please.
